This course introduces a practical, non-technical approach to the study of human behavior and how humans interact in and beyond the flight deck. In this course, you will get a comprehensive outlook of specific occurrences that contribute to human error. You will gain insight on how to carefully recognize and mitigate such occurrences by examining the social and cognitive factors that create a negative impact on human performance. The goal of CRM is to create a collaborative working environment amongst human beings and machines to achieve safe and quantifiable results. At the end of this course you will be able to: 1. Identify the most common human error conditions, commonly referred to as the “Dirty Dozen.” 2. Evaluate how interpersonal, behavioral, and cognitive skills impact team interaction and overall operational effectiveness in aviation environments. 3. Analyze how human error contributes to aircraft accidents and incidents. 4. Apply strategies and methods to mitigate human error in aviation operations. 5. Analyze historical aircraft accidents and incidents to determine the role of human error. 6. Evaluate the impact of NextGen technology on human performance, capabilities, and limitations. 7. Explain the concepts and purpose of Crew Resource Management (CRM) and their role in enhancing safety.
